When you visit a website looking for service, the first thing you might do is read their reviews. Then, you look for their price – it’s human nature. If prices aren’t listed – something that frequently happens with service-based businesses – you would reach out and inquire about their price.
Service businesses typically ask you a few questions and often need to conduct an in-person assessment to understand the situation fully before providing a cost estimate.
We customize our dog training programs to fit the individual dog and the owner’s objectives. Our approach is results-driven, and we remain committed to you until those goals are achieved. Because of this, we cannot offer a one-size-fits-all price for our training programs.
For instance, Baxter, an overly-friendly Doberman, may need to learn better manners, while Meeko, a young Shiba Inu, struggles with separation anxiety and is reactive towards strangers. Training Meeko carries more liability and will require more effort and time, which will result in a higher cost. Our programs provide a comprehensive blend of rehabilitation—aimed at bringing your dog’s baseline level of anxiety down, while positively influencing your dog’s mindset. All of this done while teaching good manners and reliable command responses, both on and off-leash. So when a potential customer inquires about our pricing, we need the full picture. We first need to gather information about their dog and family circumstances before providing an estimate.
Consider it this way: if you contact a contractor for a kitchen renovation, they will need to visit your house and get all your requirements before giving you a quote. No two kitchen renovations are identical. For example, Kitchen A might only require cosmetic updates, such as painted cabinets and new appliances, while Kitchen B requires complete cabinetry replacement and structural changes. Kitchen B is significantly more complex in various aspects and will cost more money to renovate.
Let’s look at another example: car mechanics. If you call a mechanic because your car’s check engine light is on and ask how much will it cost to fix, they won’t give you a price (not even an estimate) until they can look at the car and diagnose the issue. The problem may be something as simple as a blown fuse, or it can be something significantly more involved such as needing a brand new engine altogether.
Even if you give a mechanic or a contractor detailed information about what you need done, they will need to verify everything first before committing to a price. You might tell a contractor that you simply want to remove one small wall to open up the space, but what you might not realize is that the wall is load bearing and will require a substantial amount of work to remove. A dog owner might tell us that their dog barks and lunges at other dogs or people but that he’s not “aggressive.” This might be true, but one of our professional trainers will want to get the full picture of what’s going on behind the scenes with your dog so that we can tailor a training plan specifically for each area needing improvement.
We need to meet you and your dog for an evaluation before starting any training program. During this evaluation, our trainer will have the opportunity to meet your dog and assess the situation so they can provide you with a final cost. Sure, we can and will provide you with an estimated price based on a phone or email conversation, but we will be able to give you an exact price after your evaluation.
